Travelling to Skye

[Click for a map of Skye]The Isle of Skye, on the west coast of Scotland is a long way from the hustle and bustle, but is well served with transport links. You can fly into Inverness airport as the nearest air link. From there you can hire drive, or catch a bus direct to Portree. If driving from further afield, you can find the best route map and description using the AA Route Planner.

By road, you have a choice between coming up through spectacular Glen Coe and Fort William, either taking the famous Road to the Isles to Mallaig, catching the ferry to Armadale and continuing up to Portree, or continuing up through Lochalsh to meet the Skye Bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. Or you could choose to continue up the A9 and cut across Scotland through some of the most rugged and beautiful of Highland scenery.

Once on Skye, the main road continues up through Broadford and Sligachan and Fisherfield is easily found on the outskirts of Portree. You can find a detailed map of Portree, centred on Fisherfield at Multimap.
